High-Protein, Nectarine-Vanilla Smoothie (sugar-free)

Dan and I have made versions of the following recipe for years.  We generally make them for breakfast with frozen blueberries and strawberries.  However, this concoction is especially good, and at this moment, the nectarines are in season in the U.S.  You can eat have this smoothie for breakfast or lunch.  It benefits from extra protein, so it satisfies hunger.  Also, I don’t peel the nectarines because of the extra fiber.  If you have a craving for something sweet, this is the ticket–and it is healthy (but don’t tell anyone).

NOTE: You can substitute nectarines with mangoes or peaches, as well, but peel the mangoes.

High Protein, Vanilla-Nectarine Smoothie (sugar-free)

2 fresh nectarines, unpeeled, cut in chunks

8 oz. Dannon Lite and Fit Vanilla yogurt

1/4 tsp. vanilla

2 heaping Tbsp of Rice Protein powder (I use the vanilla flavored version)

6-10 ice cubes, depending on size

2 Tbsp chopped walnuts

In blender, add first 4 ingredients.  Blend until smooth.  Add ice.  Blend until smooth.  Poor in tall glass and top with walnuts.
